For a Nigerian with disability, Cosmas Ikechukwu Blaise Okoli’s life story is an exception rather than the rule. A happy healthy child, born to Romanus and Theresa Okoli; of Isiaku village, in Isuofia in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra Stateon June 19, 1962; fate dealt Cosmas a cruel hand when he lost the use of his legs to poliomyelitis in 1966. The traumatic 3-year long Nigerian Civil War, in which Mr. Okoli’s locality was the theatre of hostilities; and the death of his beloved mother followed in succession. |
